In a Service Area car park on the way up to Glasgow

Amazing what you see when you're looking, as I am sure campervans have always been there, I  just never noticed them, today I saw three in the car park of Service Areas on the M6 on the way upto Glasgow and the Games.

This campervan was owned by a delightful chap who described himself  as 'a mad Cornishman' a retired maths teacher who'd succeeded in locking himself out of his mini campervan. I thought our Bongo was compact but his was like a pocket campervan. He spends eight weeks a year roaming around the UK in his Romahome (Ramalone!) campervan designed for one with all mod cons. He writes songs and plays guitar - a modern day troubadour!

You can see the Bongo and his Romahome and another Lidl bag...

Also met this lovely Dutch couple who'd been married 50years having spent the first 25 arguing now in retirement happily wandering round Europe in their campervan complete with Satalite dish and home made mode con addition - very eccentric - could almost have been British as they sat on the grass enjoying the sun and their van's facilities.

Finally we came across our first Bongo on the Road. Four people were travelling in it. The husband told us he used it mainly as a van to move stuff and had no trouble in several years of ownership with the engine but the roof can be problematic , while his wife told us when they used it as a campervan and arguing he slept upstairs and she down!

To conclude, campervan people are friendly , candid and always up for a chat with advice and guidance and no two campervans seem to be the same just like thier owners!
